Who does the U.S. Bank Skyway Open Benefit?
The charitable goal of the U.S. Bank Skyway Open is to raise money for The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. The Clubs' mission is: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
The Clubs provide safe havens for children ages six to eighteen through five core program areas: Character & Leadership Skills, Education & Career Development, The Arts, Health & Life Skills and Sports, Fitness and Recreation. Reaching more than 13,500 young people throughout the year with over 500 youth attending daily, the organization has a great opportunity to address the most challenging issues facing young people while preparing them for a fruitful and positive future.
The organization serves the areas of greatest need throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul – reaching out to young people living in traditionally underserved neighborhoods. Members also receive valuable environmental education at Voyageur Environmental Center, located just west of the Twin Cities. Typically looking for a safe and fun place to spend time with their friends, youth are rewarded with much more when they become Club members. In addition to recreation, they find programs that help them succeed in school, learn new skills, and make positive life choices.
